Detective Superintendent Prunty joined the Anti-Terrorist Branch at New Scotland Yard shortly after the attacks on key areas of the United States of America in September 2001. During the course of his posting he led several high-profile and complex counter terrorist investigations.

Early in 2004 he became the Senior Investigating Officer for OP Crevice which focused upon the alleged activities of a group of men who were suspected of conspiring to cause an explosion within the United Kingdom. It became the largest covert counter terrorist investigation ever undertaken in the UK resulting in the conviction and sentencing to life imprisonment of five men. Following the terrorist attacks in London on the 7 July 2005, he was appointed as the Senior Investigating Officer for the largest ever murder investigation under taken within the Metropolitan Police Service.

In 2006 he was awarded the Queen’s Police Medal for his contribution to counter terrorism policing in the United Kingdom.

In January 2007 he commenced a twelve month secondment as senior counter terrorism advisor to the Australian Federal Police. In January this year he commenced his current role as the United Kingdom’s Counter Terrorism Liaison Officer, attached to the UK High Commission, Canberra.

He is a Facilitator & Presenter on the UK National Counter Terrorism Senior Investigators Course, is a trained member of Metropolitan Police Chemical, Biological and Radiological Cadre and  Nationally Accredited Silver Firearms Commander.

He is also a graduate of the FBI National Academy in Quantico.
