Audio enhancement is the process whereby signal processing techniques
are applied to noisy and distorted audio recordings in an attempt to
improve speech intelligibility. This workshop will begin with an
introduction to the principles of digital audio enhancement including
speech production, sound perception and audio signal processing
techniques. This will be followed by a theoretical overview and
practical examples of modern signal processing techniques such as
adaptive filtering. The workshop will conclude with a discussion of
emerging signal processing techniques and issues arising from the
proliferation of Information and Communication Technologies.
